Grant Fleetwood

Founder, Consultant, HR Executive (Ret.)

With over three decades in human capital leadership, Grant has helped steer HR strategy across complex environments from a workforce of 4,500 at JCI to the multi-entity Unitrans Passenger Division. He has served as President of leading employer associations, member of bargaining councils, and trustee on multiple retirement funds. He started Human Capital Haven to offer HR guidance that is grounded, honest, and made for real business challenges not HR theory.

    Grant Fleetwood (‘Grant’) and I worked together from 2008 following the integration of Unitrans into KAP Industrial until 2025. When we started working together, I was responsible for the implementation of the KAP Group’s employee relations strategy and Grant was the human capital executive for the Unitrans Passenger division. Grant’s primary responsibilities included the formulation and implementation of the division’s human capital strategy and industrial relations framework. Grant’s major achievements included leading industry wage negotiations in the South African Passenger Bargaining Council (SARPBAC), successful resolution of industrial action across multiple sectors (mining, commuter contracts, Gautrain etc.) in which Unitrans Passenger operated and executing dispute management processes in various labour relations dispute resolution forums (CCMA, SARPBAC and the Labour Court) . In addition, Grant played an active role in building sustainable community relationships with Unitrans Passenger’s community partners in the mining, commuter and Gautrain contracts.
